UAE leaders congratulate Turkey’s President Erdogan on winning the election
The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court of the UAE, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on winning the presidential election.
The UAE leaders sent a cable of wishes to Erdogan on his
re-election as the President of the Republic of Turkey. They wished Erdogan all
success in leading his country. The leaders also called for cooperation with
Turkey in order to strengthen the relations between the two countries.
During the second round of elections on SundayErdogan
received 52.1 per cent of votes, compared to 47.9 per cent of votes for his
challenger, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. By winning the election, Erdogan extended his
term to rule the country.
Kilicdaroglu called the election “the most unfair election
in years” but did not dispute the outcome of the election. He felt that he had
a chance of overthrowing Erdogan from his rule.
Other leaders also congratulated Erdogan on winning the
election. Vladimir Putin, the current president of Russia, Volodymyr Zelenskyy,
the current president of Ukraine, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, United
States President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, United Nations
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg,
Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
congratulated the Turkish president on winning the election.
Biden wrote on Twitter, “I look forward to continuing to
work together as NATO Allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges.”
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission of the
European Union, and NATO secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, also
congratulated the Turkish President.
After winning the election, Erdogan addressed a rally. He
said that “the only winner today is Turkey.”
