Anwar Ibrahim becomes the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia
Anwar Ibrahim made history by becoming the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia. He was appointed as the country's new prime minister by King Sultan Abdullah at the palace in Kuala Lumpur. His appointment ended several days of post-election deadlock. Reportedly, His Majesty gave consent to appoint Anwar Ibrahim as the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia. His Pakatan Harapan (PH) party won the biggest share of seats in the 15th General Election (GE15). The party won 82 seats. However, his party did not have enough seats on its own to form a government at the federal level. He had to go into the coalition to form the government. Subsequently, King Sultan took control of the process of forming a new government in Malaysia. PH and the Malay-Muslim Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition began negotiations to form a government.
