US SecState urges China to deescalate tensions, stay clear of taking any unilateral actions towards Taiwan
On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in the G2o Summit, urged China to deescalate tensions in the Indo-pacific region, and refrained from taking unilateral actions towards Taiwan. Blinken said at the G20 meeting that China has expanded pressures concerning Taiwan and that Washington needs to proceed with its "one-China strategy," which perceives Beijing yet permits informal relations and continues defence tie with Taipei. The top U.S. ambassador told Wang that the U.S. had not changed its "one China" strategy towards Taiwan. Blinken stated that the U.S. goes against activities by China "that oppose our interests and values... including activities associated with human rights violations in Xinjiang, Tibet.
