Sharjah's Innovative Wheat Project Prepares for First Harvest: Farmers and Engineers Transform Desert into Green Oasis
Farmers and engineers in Sharjah are preparing for an exciting milestone: the first harvest of an innovative wheat project. Spanning a vast 400-hectare complex in Mleiha, the project is about the size of 500 football pitches and is being managed by the department of agriculture and livestock in Sharjah. After four months of hard work and dedication, the desert land at the base of rocky mountains has been transformed into a green oasis, thanks to machine operators who drove across the fields disseminating seeds. Now, harvesting machines are set to arrive at the farm in March to collect the matured crops The project's first phase was opened in November by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and it has been a resounding success thus far.
