GAAC Holding: Restoring Afghanistan's Aviation Sector with Urgent Investments

Afghanistan's aviation sector has faced numerous challenges in recent years, with severe damage to airports and the suspension of international flights. However, GAAC Holding, a UAE-based company, has emerged as a key player in restoring the functionality and safety of Afghanistan's airports. Through significant investments and dedicated efforts, GAAC Holding aims to revive the country's aviation sector and pave the way for its development.

Revitalizing Airport Infrastructure:

GAAC Holding's urgent investment of USD 641,000 has played a crucial role in rebuilding Afghanistan's airports. The funds were utilized for various purposes, including repairing runway lights, installing generators, procuring x-ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive trace detectors. Additionally, temporary terminal buildings were set up, and essential supplies such as food and water were provided for airport staff. The company also invested in necessary ground support equipment like trolleys, tow tractors, loaders, and buses to facilitate airport operations.

Employment Opportunities and Local Engagement:

In addition to infrastructure restoration, GAAC Holding prioritized empowering the local workforce. Over 500 Afghan individuals were trained and employed to operate the airports. This not only provided employment opportunities but also fostered a sense of ownership and local involvement in the development of the aviation sector.

Comprehensive Aviation Services:

GAAC Holding offers a wide range of aviation services, including ground handling, premium services, aviation security, and air navigation services. Since November 2020, the company has been providing ground handling and premium services at three major international airports in Kabul, Kandahar, and Herat. Furthermore, GAAC Holding signed a contract with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) to develop, operate, and manage air navigation services. This exclusive contract grants GAAC Holding the responsibility of providing air traffic control, communication, navigation, surveillance, and meteorological services across the entire Afghan airspace.

Modernization and Development:

The contract with MoTCA not only involves the provision of air navigation services but also emphasizes the modernization of systems and equipment. GAAC Holding is committed to investing in cutting-edge technology and infrastructure upgrades to enhance the safety and efficiency of air navigation in Afghanistan. Through these modernization efforts, the company aims to align Afghan airspace management with global standards and improve overall aviation operations.

GAAC Holding's investment and efforts in restoring Afghanistan's aviation sector have brought new hope and opportunities for the country. By addressing the challenges faced by the airports and providing comprehensive services, the company is playing a crucial role in rebuilding and modernizing the aviation infrastructure. As Afghanistan looks towards a brighter future, GAAC Holding's commitment to the country's development is paving the way for improved connectivity, economic growth, and a revitalized aviation industry.
