Fight continues in Khartoum; The UAE evacuates more people from Sudan

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has not put an end to its efforts to help people in the war-torn country of Sudan. The UAE continues to prioritise the evacuation of people impacted by the war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

The UAE government has prioritised the sick, children, the elderly and women. The UAE rescued 178 people from Sudan on Monday. A plane carrying 176 people rescued from Sudan also landed in the UAE on Saturday. Those people were from seven countries. A child wounded by a stray bullet in Sudan was also rescued by the UAE authorities.

The child was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. The UAE said it would provide support and assistance to the evacuees. The UAE would also transfer them to their home countries.

Since April 29, the Emirates has evacuated the citizens of about 24 different countries on five different flights. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation of the UAE has carried out the evacuation operation in Sudan as part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts.

The UAE has arranged the evacuation process for the citizens of different countries who are stranded in the war-torn region of Sudan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation affirmed the UAE's commitment to help vulnerable people in Sudan. The Ministry also stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to put an end to the conflict in Sudan. The UAE also urged the two Sudanese rivals to reach a ceasefire and seek a return to the political framework in order to restore peace and security in the region.

Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations, arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss the current situation in Sudan.
