Man fakes death in UAE to avoid marrying lover
A young woman has sued her lover, claiming that he faked his death in order to avoid getting married to her and repaying the Dh215,000 that he allegedly borrowed from her.
The 20-year-old Arab
male allegedly stole the cash from the woman after telling her he had cancer
and needed money to get treatment abroad.
The woman, on the
other hand, claimed in her lawsuit that she was seeing the defendant and that
he had made a marriage proposal to her.
She noted that he had
stated he was having money problems while they were courting. He explained to
her that he had a huge debt as well as cancer and needed money to travel for
treatment abroad.
As a result, she
agreed to lend him Dh215,000, which he agreed to repay. But as soon as he had
the cash, he started avoiding her and turned off his phone.
The woman claimed that
when the defendant's brother later told her that her partner had passed away,
she was stunned.
She said that the
defendant later surfaced, proving that this was a falsehood. And the man
refused when she urged him to keep his vow to marry her and to give her her
money back.
As a result, she
demanded that he pay back the Dh215,000 she had loaned him in the Abu Dhabi
Family and Civil Administrative Matters Court.
Throughout the
duration of his court case, the man denied borrowing money from the woman. The
judge dropped the case after hearing from both parties on the grounds that the
woman had not provided enough proof to show that she had actually lent the
defendant the money.
She was also instructed to cover the defendant's legal costs.
