UAE Prime Minister meets President of Romania
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president, prime minister, and minister of defence of the United Arab Emirates as well as the current ruler of Dubai, met Klaus Werner Iohannis, the President of Romania, on Tuesday.
The two leaders held talks. They discussed various opportunities to expand ties between the UAE and Romania. They agreed to expand ties between the two countries across trade, the economy, renewable energy, sustainability and food security.
During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed regional and international issues. The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Reem Al Hashimy, the Minister of State for International Co-operation.
The UAE Prime Minister wrote on Twitter, “During my meeting today with the visiting Romanian President, we discussed the overall relations, and agreed on the importance of developing communication between the two countries in all sectors.”
Mariam Al Mheiri, the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, and Mohammed Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE also participated in the meeting.
The Romanian President visited the UAE on March 18-21 at the invitation of the UAE president His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Romanian President and first lady Carmen Iohannis were welcomed by a guard of honour at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.
The Romanian Presidency said in a statement, “During the visit, several bilateral documents will be signed by relevant Romanian ministers and officials in the field of energy, cyber security and education.”
Earlier, the UAE President also met with the Romanian President. MBZ said that the UAE was looking forward to Romania's active participation at COP28 (the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference) later this year. The Romanian President thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome and hospitality.
