The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made significant progress in a variety of areas, including human rights. The UAE's recent high-level panel discussion on human rights in Geneva demonstrates the country's determination to improve its human rights record.

The panel discussion, organized by thirteen international human rights organizations with UN advisory capacity, focused on the UAE's Shadow Report for the 43rd Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The report provides an overview of the country's progress in meeting its human rights obligations, highlighting accomplishments and addressing challenges.

Human rights experts and specialists from various government sectors, national human rights institutions, and international organizations attended the session. The panel also included media professionals and academics, ensuring a well-rounded discussion.

The UAE's human rights report was discussed at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) meetings in May, demonstrating the country's commitment to transparency and accountability.

The UAE has made significant progress in several areas of human rights, including women's rights, labor rights, and religious freedom. The country has put policies and programs in place to protect these rights, such as the formation of the Federal National Council and the appointment of a Minister of Tolerance. The country has also made strides in improving its legal framework, with new laws and regulations aimed at protecting human rights.

However, the UAE still faces challenges in its human rights journey. The country has been chastised for how it treats migrant workers, and there are concerns about freedom of expression and the press. The panel discussion provided a forum for these concerns to be addressed and potential solutions discussed.

The UAE's determination to improve its human rights record is admirable. Recognize and support the country's efforts to promote and protect human rights. The panel discussion provided an opportunity to discuss progress made and challenges encountered, with the goal of promoting dialogue and understanding on the subject. Such discussions allow for progress and the continuation of the UAE's human rights journey.
