The Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE, Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, recently led a delegation of UAE government officials and business leaders to South Africa to explore and enhance trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. The delegation’s visit aimed to promote development in critical sectors such as logistics, food production, tourism, and energy, and to foster cooperation and establish new joint ventures and programs.

During the visit, the UAE delegation held talks with their South African counterparts to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and facilitate private sector dialogue. They also explored opportunities to establish new partnerships and joint ventures, which would enable the UAE and South Africa to leverage their strengths and promote mutual development.

One of the key objectives of the visit was to strengthen the logistics sector, which plays a crucial role in facilitating trade and investment between the two countries. The UAE has established itself as a major logistics hub in the Middle East, while South Africa has a well-developed transportation infrastructure and is strategically located to serve as a gateway to other African markets. By collaborating in this area, both countries can enhance their logistics capabilities and expand their reach to new markets.

Another area of focus was food production, where both the UAE and South Africa have significant expertise. The UAE is heavily dependent on food imports, while South Africa is a major exporter of agricultural products. By collaborating in this area, the two countries can strengthen food security and promote sustainable agriculture.

Tourism and energy were also identified as key areas for collaboration, with both countries possessing significant potential in these sectors. The UAE is known for its world-class tourism infrastructure, while South Africa boasts unique natural attractions and a rich cultural heritage. Collaboration in the energy sector, on the other hand, could enable the two countries to tap into each other’s expertise and resources to promote sustainable development
