Dubai public transport witnessed an increase in 2022. Reportedly, over 621 million journeys were made on Dubai public transport in 2022, which is an increase of 35% from the previous year.

According to the Dubai Statistics Centre's live population counter, the population in Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates, crossed 3.5 million in April 2022. It led to an increase in public transport and a robust recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Public transport also witnessed a boom during the November 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Dubai officials laid on extra taxis and metro services to transport people, especially tourists, to fan zones across Dubai.

Expo 2020 Dubai — which started in October 2021 and concluded on March 31 of last year — also saw an increase in visitors. They used public transport across Dubai. The Museum of the Future also attracted visitors in 2022. The Museum of the Future, an exhibition space for innovative services and products located in the Financial District of Dubai, was opened in February 2022. The Museum attracted one million visitors in its first year.

According to Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, an average of 1.7 million trips were made each day last year. Dubai Metro was used by the majority of people. Taxis were used by 30 per cent of people and public buses were used by 25 per cent.

People also used tram services, marine transport, water taxis, and shared mobility like e-hail, smart car rentals and bus-on-demand services. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the authority, lauded the Dubai mass public transport such as metro and bus services. He reportedly said, “Dubai Metro acquired the largest percentage of public transport. The share of public buses reached 25 per cent.”

Reportedly, 62 million journeys were made in March 2022. Around 57 million trips took place in December 2022.
