On behalf of the government and people of the UAE, Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met KingCharles III at Buckingham Palace in London on Sunday. He conveyed their
condolences for the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Sheikh Mohammed also emphasised the queen's important role in
sustaining and solidifying the close ties between the UAE and the UK. He
praised the friendship between the two countries and wished it would continue
to grow. Sheikh Mohammed also spoke about the advantages of enhancing regional
and global security, stability, and peace.
Moreover, the United Kingdom has been a dependable ally of the
United Arab Emirates ever since its founding in 1971. The UK has been a
valuable partner in pursuing this goal as the UAE has sought to be a source of
stability, economic progress, and innovation in the region in recent years.
With the United Kingdom, there is a strong bilateral
relationship that takes into account mutual economic, strategic, and cultural
interests. A wide range of industries, including energy, financial and
professional services, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, as well as
defence and aerospace, are traded between the two nations.
The UAE and the UK have a long-standing strategic cooperation in
addition to their commercial ties. In order to maintain security and stability
in the Arabian Gulf, the Armed Forces of the UAE and the UK collaborate
closely. A Defence Cooperation Accord outlining the terms of security
cooperation between the UK and UAE was signed in 1996.
The UAE ranks behind only China (including Hong Kong) and the
United States as the UK's third-largest commercial partner outside of Europe.
The UAE is now the UK's biggest trading partner in the Middle East as a result.
In the Emirates, more than 5,000 UK companies are active. Many Britons reside
and work in the UAE, and many Emiratis go to the UK each year.
