PFI members gathering funds from Mideast to fuel unrest in India

Days after the Popular Front of India (PFI) was subjected to a harsh crackdown, Times Now has obtained information about how the members of the radical Islamic group reportedly gathered funding from the Middle East to incite unrest in India.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Oman, and Kuwait, according to sources, have been providing money to PFI members to fund turmoil and bloodshed on Indian territory.

It has been discovered that certain PFI members who are based overseas have been paying money to their NRI accounts and then transferring it to the leaders of the extreme Islamic group.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and state police agencies around India coordinated searches on September 22, 2022, in relation to allegations of sponsoring terrorism.

Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar, and Manipur were among the 15 Indian states where the NIA conducted searches in 93 locations.

Following persistent input and evidence that the PFI leaders and cadres were involved in funding terrorism and terrorist activities, organising training camps for providing armed training, and radicalising individuals to join prohibited organisations, searches were carried out at the homes and offices of the top PFI leaders and members in connection with five cases registered by the NIA.

Over the past few years, numerous criminal lawsuits have been filed by various jurisdictions against the PFI and its leaders and members for their participation in numerous violent activities.

After conducting the raids, the NIA stated that PFI's criminal violent acts, including the chopping off of a college professor's hand, the cold-blooded killing of people connected to organisations that support other faiths, the gathering of explosives to target notable individuals and locations, support for the Islamic State, and the destruction of public property, had a demonstrable effect of inspiring fear in the minds of the populace.

In these cases, the NIA detained 45 suspects. As opposed to the 19 accused who were detained in Kerala, 11 were detained in Tamil Nadu, 7 in Karnataka, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 2 in Rajasthan, and 1 in each in UP and Telangana.

On September 22, 106 leaders and activists of the extremist Islamic group were detained by multi-agency teams led by the NIA.
