Sachin Tendulkar backs Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh

During the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar offered words of support and encouragement to rookie pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is facing criticism for dropping a critical catch against Pakistan in the Super Four match. The 23-year-old Indian pacer is under fire for missing a crucial catch during Pakistan's 18th over against India in the Super Four phase match as the latter team was attempting to score 182 runs.

Asif Ali, whom Singh had dismissed, made the most of the opportunity presented to him by hitting Pakistani pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 19 runs in the subsequent over. The final over was assigned to Arshdeep Singh, who failed to stop seven runs.

After missing the critical catch, Arshdeep was the subject of cruel online trolls. On Singh's Wikipedia article, "India" was changed to "Khalistan" by an anonymous user, however these modifications were quickly reversed by another editor. Apparently, a few handles from Pakistan also started to operate.

"Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let's keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks. @arshdeepsinghh keep working hard.... and give the best reply by performing on the field. I am keenly following you. My best wishes," Tendulkar tweeted.

The former India spinner Harbhajan Singh defended him, saying that no one intentionally drops catches and that the young seamer shouldn't be blamed.

"Stop criticizing young @arshdeepsinghh. No one drops a catch purposely..we are proud of our boys .. Pakistan played better.. shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout Arsh and the team.. Arsh is GOLD," the former spinner tweeted.

India was given the opportunity to bat first in the game and added 181/7 in their 20 overs. Pakistan successfully completed the 182-run chase with one delivery remaining and a margin of five wickets.
