UAE President Makes Phone Call To Pakistan’s PM To Offer Condolences To The Flood Victims

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has made a phone call to Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, as the country is witnessing torrential rains and floods that have caused deaths, injuries and displacements.

His Highness offered condolences to the flood victims. Reportedly, the flood killed more than 1,000 people and displaced thousands in the country. His Highness reiterated the UAE’s full support to Pakistan in overcoming the ongoing crisis.

He has ordered urgent relief aid to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. His Highness has also ordered the provision of all humanitarian relief services to the displaced people to improve their ability to overcome the challenges they are facing because of torrential rains and floods.

The UAE relief aid for Pakistan includes around 3,000 tonnes of food and medical and pharmaceutical supplies, and tents and shelter materials. The relief aid teams will also offer humanitarian support to Pakistani cadres and institutions in order to boost their efforts to secure the safety of the flood victims and their food, medical and logistical needs.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also sent condolences to Dr Arif Alvi, President of  Pakistan, over the victims of the floods that hit Pakistan.

Reportedly, Pakistan’s Prime Minister thanked the UAE President for the urgent relief dispatched to improve the living conditions of the flood victims.

Around 110 districts in Pakistan have been destroyed by floods. A total of 949,858 dwellings have been demolished. Reportedly, more than 33 million people have been displaced following torrential rains and floods.

The government of Pakistan has also declared an emergency to deal with the situation as destructive monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc.
