Everyone benefits from the UAE-US arms deal, says Harp

UAE-US

In an interview published by Prolific Solutions on Twitter with Seth Harp, an investigative journalist for Rolling Stones magazine, he said that the United Arab Emirates is a key hub in the world's cross-border security elite, which includes Officials from all over the world.

“The United Arab Emirates is a key hub in this world's transnational security elite that involves officials in more than just the United States,” said Harp.

He added that buying expensive weapons from the US manufacturers makes them happy which in turn pleases the politicians and it creates a virtuous cycle.

Everyone benefits from the UAE arms deal and the United States, and this increases the strategic relations between the two countries, as well as fighting Al-Houthi, who is a strong ally of Iran.

He further added that Biden's recent visit, as well as arms sales, show that the United States will continue to support Saudi Arabia.

“Biden's recent visit, and also the arms sales show that the US will continue to support Saudi Arabia, no matter what it does,” said Seth Harp.

The Biden administration has approved massive arms sales to the United Arab Emirates to help them defend against Iran.

The more than USD 5 billion in missile defense and related sales follow President Joe Biden's visit to the Middle East last month, during which he met with numerous regional leaders. The UAE have been hit in recent months with rocket attacks from the Iran-backed Houthi rebel movement in Yemen.

The new sales include USD 2.2 billion for high-altitude missile defence for the UAE.

For the Emirates, the department ensured that the sale would "support the foreign policy and national security of US by helping to improve the security of a regional partner. The UAE is a vital US partner for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East."
