In order to assist those impacted by the floods that hit six states, including River Nile, Gezira, White Nile, West Kordofan, South Darfur, and Kassala, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has sent a plane to Sudan with 30 tonnes of emergency relief, including 15 tonnes of essential food and medical supplies.

Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Sudan's future minister of health, and Ahmed Adam Bakheet, Sudan's future minister of social development, as well as representatives of the UAE Embassy in Khartoum, greeted the UAE group bringing the relief supplies upon their arrival.

According to a statement from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the aid program concentrated on giving the impacted people access to basic necessities so they could deal with the terrible circumstances brought on by the floods.

For those impacted by the recent floods that struck numerous sections of the country, an airlift of relief from the UAE landed in Sudan today with 30 tonnes of humanitarian goods, including necessary food and medical supplies.

Upon the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the UAE has sent a second batch of aid over the past few days to assist the affected families, improve their living conditions, and support the efforts being made at the national level to contain the crisis.

The foundation also noted that the assistance was provided in the form of first-aid kits and food supplies, such as rice, flour, sugar, powdered milk, tea, and lentils, and that it was carried out in accordance with the leadership of the UAE in order to strengthen the long-standing relations between the two nations.

The Sudanese Health Minister-designate, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, stated that the humanitarian help is a reflection of the UAE leadership, government, and people's kindness in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The minister said, "The relief aid given by the UAE will satisfy the needs of the Sudanese people for housing those impacted by the floods, as well as for medications, including antibiotics, to treat chronic ailments in different Sudanese states.

The minister thanked the leadership, the government, and the people of the UAE for supporting Sudan during the current terrible humanitarian conditions.

The UAE's strong humanitarian stance toward the Sudanese people is highlighted by the relief help, according to the Sudanese Minister-Designate for Social Development.

He continued, "I greatly appreciate the heroic act of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in supplying food and medical aid to our people.

In a related matter, the ERC's field teams have started setting up camps to provide shelter for individuals impacted by the torrential downpours and floods that struck several Sudanese cities and states and caused significant property and individual damage.

In the Sudanese state of Al Jazirah's Al Manaqil City, shelter camps have been erected in a number of the affected areas. The ERC staff also took care of the emergency sheltering and evacuation operations while helping those impacted emotionally.

More than 120 tents were erected in one area, and 450 more were put up in the other Al Manaqil communities.

Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, the head of the ERC delegation to Sudan, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), "In accordance with the wise leadership's directives, the field teams of the Emirates Red Crescent have started establishing the first camps to shelter the affected Sudanese people and provide them with various relief and food material in order to alleviate their suffering and restore normalcy."

The creation of shelter camps in the afflicted areas, he continued, was done in order to consolidate the villagers impacted by the floods until the end of the humanitarian calamity and the reconstruction of their homes.
