US Covid deaths cross 800,000 mark in the global record; Joe Biden prays for them
The United States’ covid deaths crossed the 800,000 mark on Tuesday. A tracker maintained by Johns Hopkins University showed the country is hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Reportedly, 450,000 of the deaths occurred in the US in 2021. The majority of the deaths have been among unvaccinated people. Despite vaccines being available to the US early this year, death records have increased significantly. Reportedly, the risk of dying from COVID-19 was 14 times higher among people who had not been fully vaccinated.

In a statement, released by the White House, Joe Biden
remembered each person and the lives they lived. He prayed for the loved ones
who are left behind. Biden urged all Americans to keep the country safe and get
vaccinated soon to prevent the Covid-19 virus. He said, “The vaccines are safe,
effective, free, easy, and our best tool to prevent more loss and pain. If you
were fully vaccinated before mid-June, please go get your booster shot as soon
as possible.” Earlier, the US government’s leading infectious diseases
official, Anthony Fauci also urged Americans to get a Covid-19 booster shot.

According to WION, the country accounts for approximately 4
percent of the world’s population, and it has the highest reported covid death
toll of any country. Seventy-five percent of people who have died of the virus
in the United States have been 65 or older. In 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic
started, the US reported only one death. However, within three months of the
pandemic, the death toll reached 100,000.
Various countries are still suffering from Covid-19. The new
variant of Covid-19, Omicron, is deadlier than other variants. The new variant
created havoc in many countries. Many cases were reported from different parts
of the world in recent months.
