Johnson and Biden discuss the situation in Afghanistan over the telephone call
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden discussed the security situation in Afghanistan on Tuesday over a telephone call. They also agreed to hold a virtual G7 Summit next week with other allied leaders.
Following the Taliban took control of Kabul; the first international
counterpart that President Biden spoke to is UK PM Boris Johnson.
The two-nation leaders "talked about the necessity for continued
close coordination among partners and democratic leaders over Afghanistan
policy going ahead, including ways the international community can give in the
form of humanitarian assistance and support for displaced people and other
helpless Afghans," the White House stated.
The White House said the US and British leaders consented to hold a
virtual G7 meeting one week from now "to talk about a common approach and
strategy to help the situation and people of Afghanistan."
On Tuesday, the United States and Western partners continued evacuating
ambassadors and ordinary citizens the day after mayhem at the Kabul air
terminal as Afghans ran on the runway.
The world has witnessed pictures of Afghan civilians frantically
attempting to leave the country in the news and other social media platforms
since the Taliban took complete control of Afghanistan.
Women and Children fear that the rule of the Taliban will bring public
executions, ban on female education, wearing hijab, chopping hands of thieves
and stoning of women accused of adultery.
A Downing Street representative confirmed the phone call among Johnson
and Biden on Tuesday, saying they welcomed the cooperation between the two
nations as of late to help assist with the evacuation of Americans and British
nationals, among many others.
The representative stated, "PM Johnson and President Biden
concurred on the requirement for the international community to join hands in
forestalling a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan."
