Flying taxis in Middle East ?
German air taxi developer Lilium sees "enormous opportunities" in the Middle East, particularly in the GCC, where the development of megacities requires solutions to minimize traffic and reduce carbon emissions.
Munich-based Lilium is reviewing potential opportunities in the region. including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, for its electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL), Sebastien Borel, Lilium's senior vice president of commercial, told The National. “We are in talks with many players in the region. Whether it lands or not is up to them and up to us when it comes to Middle East production,” he said.
“Europe, the US and the Middle East will be our strongest
regions, so we need to balance supply in each of those regions in time for [production] slots.
This comes after Saudia
signed an initial agreement with Lilium in October to purchase 100 aircraft from
Lilium to serve its national
network. With this deal, Saudia became the first airline in the Middle
East and North Africa to introduce all-electric aircraft into its network, according to Lilium
