The Middle East is the region where many richest people live. There are various businesses in the Middle East region. The CEO bears most of the responsibility for the success or failure of the company. Forbes recently released the list of the Top 100 CEOs in the Middle East in 2022.

The top 100 CEOs list consists of leaders from 26 nationalities. Emiratis dominated with 19 entries, followed by Egyptians with 16, and Saudis with 15. Banking and financial services are the most represented sector on the list with 27 CEOs, followed by eight telecom CEOs, and seven each from energy and logistics companies.

  4. Toufik Hakkar: The Chairman and CEO of Algeria’s state-owned oil company, SONATRACH.
  5. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi: The Deputy Chairman, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, which explores, develops, refines, produces, and utilizes the state’s natural resources.
  6. Akbar Al Baker: Group CEO of Qatar Airways Group.
  7. Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan: The Vice Chairman and CEO of SABIC, one of the world’s largest petrochemical manufacturers.
  8. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem: Group chairman and the CEO of DP World, an end-to-end logistics company.
  9. Syed Basar Shueb: CEO and Managing Director of the International Holding Company (IHC), the second most valuable company in the Arab world.
  10. Osama Rabie: The CEO of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), which manages, maintains, and improves the Suez Canal’s operations.

Russian central bank hikes rates amid the Ukrainian crisis

  Russia's central bank on Monday raised its key policy rate to 20 per cent from 9.5 per cent amid the Ukrainian crisis. The western countries imposed harsh sanctions against the country, which affected the Russian economy. The central bank also ordered companies to sell 80 per cent of their foreign currency revenues to manage the fallout of harsh economic sanctions. The West pummelled the country with economic sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine . Reportedly, the central bank said in a statement that external conditions for the Russian economy have drastically changed after Russia invaded Ukraine. The bank further said that the rate hike from 9.5 per cent to 20 per cent will ensure a rise in deposit rates to levels needed to compensate for the increased depreciation and higher inflation.
