Israel UAE Sign Historic Free Trade Agreement

Israel - UAE

Israel has entered into a free trade agreement with UAE today. With this, Israel will be counted in the band of countries which have wished to rub shoulders with this developing Emirate.

The ‘historic’ agreement has been signed in Dubai between Maj. Gen. (res.) Orna Barbibai and Emirati economy minister Abdullah bin Tok Al-Marie.

Being seen as a groundbreaking moment for the coalition Israeli government, the agreement is quite comprehensive in nature and significant in nature. It is expected to increase trade between the two countries when it comes to goods and services, increasing Israeli exports to the UAE, as well as will grant an immediate or gradual customs exemption on 96 percent of trade between the two countries. In the nature of a Free Trade agreement, it will focus on commodities like food, agriculture, cosmetics, medical equipment, medicines, etc.

With the visit, the Israeli minister has also signed a MoU that entails agreements regulatory and regulatory issues, customs, cooperation, government procurement, e-commerce and the maintenance of intellectual property rights.

Significant Achievement

Israel has signed a trade agreement for the first time with an Arab country. Since 2020, when America was able to broker their coming closer, there has been no significant cooperation amongst these nations in the past.

With this state-of-the-art military and pharma technology, Israel has a lot to offer to the Arab world, provided they can find a common ground of trust and engagement. By virtue of their nature, UAE leadership has continued to find ways and means to bring value creating alliances together. Today’s agreement is one such step towards cementing ties with Israel.

Arab Partnerships

Maintaining a balanced approach throughout the pandemic and geopolitical upheavals, UAE is known to move ahead steadily without discriminating against race or cultures. This is one reason that the United Arab Emirates enjoys some broad diplomatic and commercial relations with most countries of the world. It plays a significant role in OPEC, and is one of the founding members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
