UAE, Israel cross the speed bump, confirm on normalizing diplomatic relations.

In a landmark concord, the United ArabEmorates and Israel have decided to normalize the diplomatic relations between each other on Thursday where Donald Trump, President of the United States was deemed the broker between the two. This effort and agreement for normalization of the relations comes after Israel assured of suspending annexation of occupied West Bank territory.

This move by Israel has reinstated sovereignty to the areas of the West Bank that were planned to be annexed by the Israeli forces. The confirmation of this came through a tweet by the Abu Dhabi crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

"During a call with President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, an agreement was reached to stop further Israeli annexation of Palestinian territories. The UAE and Israel also agreed to cooperation and setting a roadmap towards establishing a bilateral relationship," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted.

White House has been making an effort to come up with a mediation between the two Middle Eastern powers and it was only yesterday that they fetched any result. The peace deal was the product of lengthy discussions between Israel, the UAE and the United States that accelerated recently, White House officials said.

"This historic diplomatic breakthrough will advance peace in the Middle East region and is a testament to the bold diplomacy and vision of the three leaders and the courage of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential in the region. All three countries face many common challenges and will mutually benefit from today's historic achievement," read a joint statement from all three countries.

With this, UAE is the only third country, Egypt and Jordan being the other two, of the Middle East to have normal relations with Israel. Giving his view in the deal, Trump said, “This deal is a significant step towards building a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Middle East.”

To sign a bilateral agreement between the two countries, delegations will be meeting in coming weeks and will discuss further prospects on investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit, revealed a joint statement by the three powers.

Anwar Gargash, the UAE’s minister of state for foreign affairs, also appreciated the decision and said that it is a “win-win solution” that takes away the “looming threat” of annexation in the West Bank. He revealed that UAE presented its case in a way that if Israel continues the annexation plan, it will further detach itself from the Arab world to stay close, it will have to drop the idea of West Bank annexation.
