There have been no armed forces in Costa Rica since 1949. It
has used the savings from defence spending to improve the education and health
care sectors of the country. In 1949, Defence Minister Edgar Cardona proposed
the idea to spend the money on education and health.

is an island state in the Caribbean Sea that has no military forces. The island
country is known for its beaches. The Dutch government controls the foreign and

is in NATO. The countries will provide support to Iceland if something happens.

regular armed forces. However, Mauritius has police forces and a paramilitary
unit called the Special Mobile Force, which is responsible for military,
police, and security functions.
Greenland
Greenland is the largest island on earth that has no
military forces. Denmark controls the foreign and defence policy of the island.
Greenland is an autonomous Danish dependent territory.
Panama
Panama, a country in Central America, has no regular armed
forces. The country abolished its military in 1990. However, Panama has the
Panamanian Public Forces, which is responsible for internal security and border
problems.

Andorra is a European country that has no regular armed
forces. Andorra receives protection from Spain and France. The laws in the
country are handled by the National Police Corps, which is responsible for
maintaining internal security.
