PM Modi Meets New Australian PM Albanese In Quad Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with
Australia's newly appointed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today to discuss
ways to boost momentum across key areas of their strong bilateral strategic
ties.
Albanese was sworn in as Prime Minister of
Australia the day before Modi and him met on the margins of the Quad Summit.

India’s Prime Minister Modi congratulated
newly elected Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese for his election
victory in his country.
After meeting Australia's new PM, Modi
Tweeted,
“India's
Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Australia is robust and benefits not
only the people of our nations but also the world."
Albanese also tweeted,
"Warmly
welcomed my meeting with @narendramodi for an engaging discussion on Australia
and India's full strategic and economic agenda, including on clean energy
technology. Australia-India ties have never been closer."
Earlier, the PMO (Prime Minister Office)
stated that Modi and Albanese had productive meetings in Tokyo. PMO tweeted,
"The
talks focused on deepening the developmental cooperation between India and
Australia across diverse sectors."

External Affairs (MEA)
In a press release, the Ministry of External
Affairs (MEA) stated,
"Both
leaders reviewed the multi-faceted cooperation under the Comprehensive
Strategic Partnership, including in trade & investment, defense
manufacturing, renewable energy including green hydrogen, education, science
and technology, agricultural research, sports and people-to-people ties."
“Both
Prime Ministers affirmed their desire to continue the positive momentum in the
bilateral relationship.”
The spokesperson of MEA (Ministry of External
Affairs), Arindam Bagchi called the meeting as a ‘reignited momentum’ and ‘Enhanced
Strategic Alliance’ between India & Australia.

Quad Summit Meetup
The two leaders had previously attended the
Quad meeting, which also included US Vice President Joe Biden and Japanese
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Modi had also lauded Albanese at the Quad
summit, stating that his participation at the summit only 24 hours after taking
the oath demonstrated his dedication to Quad.
