Constant efforts of the UAE to fight coronavirus.

From the time the United Arab Emirates announced its first case of COVID-19 on January 29 to when the cases rose to the extent that there is no more individual reporting of covid positive people, the nation has implemented a lot of steps and taken strict measures to ensure the safety and health of the citizens. So even as the cases keep on increasing, the spread of coronavirus in the UAE is far more controlled than any other country.

Initially when the cases were identified in the middle eastern country, they decided to cancel all public gatherings and functions that were scheduled for those months. They even decided to limit the flight to Beijing and no other city in China was allowed to share the flights. The UAE was one of the first ones to do it. Gradually as the cases increased, the restaurants were also closed and only were open for delivery and even flights, they were paused for the country went into a lockdown. As Iran showed a massive spike in the number of cases, UAE suspended all flights to Tehran as well. And most of all the country focused on not letting people panic. They approached doctors and health experts to pass on the message that ‘we are ready to fight coronavirus’.

They have also partially followed contact tracing, the model South Korea followed, to curb and restrict the movement of possible covid patients. The UAE was among the first countries to move against COVID-19, taking precautionary measures that just a month ago were rare in other parts of the world. They have isolated residents who may have been infected, including those who have come into contact with confirmed cases. One of the better examples on how UAE has strictly tackled the virus attack is when in W Hotel on Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi, 1,400 people were placed under a 14-day quarantine at the end of February after two Italians - support staff on the UAE Tour cycling competition - had tested positive for the virus. This was the time country’s were hardly talking about the lockdown and virus was contained to China.

And even now, when the country has been opened to tourism, they are making sure not to be ignorant towards the deadly effects of the virus. There are going to be three new COVID-19 testing centres in Abu Dhabi allowing residents to get rapid laser tests only for Dh50. All the three centers will be under Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha) and will be located in Zayed Sports City, Corniche area, and Hili area in Al Ain. For the convenience of the residents, they can book an appointment on the application starting August 1.
