Ukrainian refugees may get three year protection by EU commission
Ukraine is projected to witness one of the biggest refugee crisis in European history adn to support this, the European Union commission has arranged for a plan which will give the refugees a three years protection.
The EU has
reportedly proposed declaring an automatic temporary protection for those
fleeing the war from Ukraine. This protection is bound to increase for upto
three years. The plan also includes a residence permit along with an access to
employment and certain social welfare programmes.
The proposal was
made on Wednesday this week where it was decided that the refugees may get
temporary protection if and only the plan is approved by the interior ministers
of the EU.
They will be
meeting further to deal with this issue and come to a proper decision. On
Thursday when the ministers met, the majority of them, at least 15 member
states, agreed to the action plan.

Till now, the
action plan suggests amenities such as housing and medical assistance. These
benefits will be granted to war refugees. The committee also suggested that
they will be eliminating all the lengthy asylum procedures which may put a
strain on their already strained lifetyes.
This protection can last upto three years and if required, it can be extended for one more year. Only on condition of stabilization in Ukraine will this protection plan end. By this time, the EU is hoping that the refugees will be able to return to home and the situation will normalize.
