Updates for the people entering Abu Dhabi from Saturday.
For those visiting Abu Dhabi from now on will have to follow revised rules to enter the Emirate. The Authorities updated the rules on Friday night which will be implemented from Saturday thi week.
Under the new rules, whoever enters the capital will have to show a negative PCR or DPI test report and only then can they enter the Emirate. The capital city of the United Arab EMirates is trying to take stricketer measures to curb the spread of coronavirus among people and flatten the curve that has been elevating since UAE relaxed the lockdown.
The time duration for a valid PCR or DPI test has also been changed to 48 hours which was 72 hours earlier as per the directives of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority. This means that laser test, which was earlier accepted as a certification of Covid free being, will not be considered.
In a tweet, the Abu Dhabi government media said, “Starting Saturday, September 5th, residents and visitors can enter the emirate of Abu Dhabi within 48 hours of receiving a negative PCR or DPI test result. DPI test results no longer require a prior PCR test.” The tweet further said that the visitors who are going to be staying in Abu Dhabi for consecutive six or more days will now have to take a PCR test on the sixth day of each visit, in order to protect the health and safety of the community.
One of the biggest challenges in taking the PCR test will be its price. Laser test costs Dh50, while the PRC swab is typically Dh370.
These steps are being taken in the wake of an alarming increase in the number of covid cases in the gulf country. Earlier it had seemed that the nation had it under control but it opened its borders and airports for travellers, it saw a huge rise in coronavirus cases.
As far as the dependence on laser tests is concerned, they were introduced to speed up the process, especially for people who travel for work but then the authorities decided to keep both the tests and rely more on PCR that is conducted using a nasal swab and used to amplify the DNA sample and then detect specific antigens while laser test uses blood sample.
