Donald Trump nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, White House says, “Well-deserved”

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize for his efforts of brokering the deal between the United Arab EMirates and Israel. The White House in its statement has said that the landmark closing of the deal is what results in this achievement and  this ‘hard earned and well-deserved honor.’

The White House further said that the US president has decided to make peace a cornerstone in the efforts made by him with regards ot foreign policy. Trump was nominated by Norwegian lawmaker, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, according to whom this deal will lead to a major step forward in ensuring peace in the Middle East. 

Even though the deal was officially announced on August 13, it will be inked on September 15 in the White House . Both the countries have been making efforts to normalise the relation step by step. In a landmark move, the first commercial flight between the UAE and Israel landed in Abu Dhabi on August 31 which carried delegations from both the countries and included senior advisor to the White House, Jared Kushner, who has been making attempts to persuade other middle easten countries to open their borders with Israel. 

Jewish state has not been recognised by a lot of countries and serves diplomatic ties with only three countries which include Jordan, Egypt and now, UAE. 

"President Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work in brokering an Israel-United Arab Emirates peace deal. It was a historic deal and the first such deal in over two decades. This is a hard-earned and well-deserved honour for this President," White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday.

The Norwegian parliamentarian has given other instances as well in establishing how efficiently is Trump working in the process of easing the conflicts between countries. Examples included, Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan, Border issues between South and North Korea and handling nuclear capabilities of North Korea. Trump has also been credited for defeating ISIS and the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as per a statement by the White House secretary, among other things.
