UAE makes efforts to establish peace in Palestine.
As promised during the announcement of normalising ties with Israel, the United Arab Emirates is moving towards improving the situation between Palestine and Israel. The country has called for progress towards efforts at ending the long running conflict between the two parties.
It has called for a commitment from h=its regional and international partners who will collaborate for the efforts to find a solution to the issues of Palestine that deals with realistic aspirations of the Palestinian people.
The ambitions of the UAE came to public knowledge when the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, Lama Nusseibeh, gave a statement at the general assembly’s meeting where she said, “The Middle East is witnessing many conflicts and crises that have exhausted its people. With the outbreak of Covid-19, existing challenges are exacerbated, making it a priority for the international community to seek permanent solutions to these issues by rethinking previous approaches and implementing new measures to bring peace and stability to the region."
This came after she received a question in the plenary meeting about the issues in Palestine. While speaking about ways to tackle the issues and solving the conflict with Israel, she quoted the statement sent by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan which read, “The UAE government and people reiterate their permanent, longstanding commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people in achieving all of their legitimate rights in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.”
The President of the UAE had sent his wishes along with statement on occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which coincidently coincides with teh 49th National Day of the Emirati nation.
Nusseibeh then went to emphasize how Paletinian issue has been always a priority of the foreign policy since the establishment of the UAE. She emphasised that no matter what, the UAE will not back off from his solid stance that is in support of establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
She added that this will be done in consideration with the internationally accepted parameters and the Arab peace initiative and will take into view the pre-1967 borders. With these steps being achieved, East Jerusalem will be made the capital of the Palestinian state.
As Abraham Accords said, the UAE will be working towards bringing peace to the Middle East with its continuous efforts and dedication while highlighting that this can be achieved once the illegal practices in the Paletinian territories and their expansion is stopped.
Considering the grave situation in Palestine due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, she expressed her concern for the deteriorating humanitarian, economic and health condition in the region. Her statement also included the need to support the health sector in Palestine, a practice that UAE aims to continue doing for Palestinians.
