Abu Dhabi logistics collaborates with four other logistic companies to expand its reach.

The United Arab Emirates is making an example out of itself as it expands its logistics reach for Covid-19 vaccine reach by partnering with four other logistic companies.

Abu Dhabi has established the largest hub for Covid-19 vaccine distribution, Abu Dhabi Hope Consortium, with an aim to distribute vaccines to every part of the world by the end of this year.

The consortium, which plans to deliver billions of vaccines throughout the world, has partnered with Agility Logistics, Aramex, Hellman worldwide logistics and Kuehne+Nagel, a deal which was confirmed on Thursday.

The partnership will be benefited by providing global access for a potential distribution coverage to almost 80 percent of the world, confirms Abu Dhabi government media office. The Abu Dhabi media office made it official through twitter saying, “Abu Dhabi’s Hope Consortium has engaged four globally leading freight forwarder partners to support in addressing logistical challenges in the distribution of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, including the ‘last mile’.

The companies that teh Abu Dhabi consortium partnered with operate in more than 170 countries and now will help the UAE based company in its aim to deliver the vaccines to every part of the world.

Since the consortium launched last month, more than five million doses have already been distributed. In doing so, the emirate has also acknowledged challenges in the process as the storage is a big issue. Most of the vaccines that are being developed, need cold storage, which is not possible for every country or every part of the world.

This is where the Abu Dhabi vaccine distribution hub comes in view as it will help those who have problem storage will ensure correct temperature, source and distribute them according to the demand of the region and further make tracking available to regulate the usage of the vaccine doses.

One of the largest vaccine distributors, the Hope consortium is run by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi along with Etihad Cargo, Abu Dhabi Ports Company, Rafed, part of ADQ, and SkyCell. Sheikh Abdulllah Al Hamed, who is the chairman of the department of Health Abu Dhabi had earlier said that developing a vaccine is only the first step and there is a lot to be done.

"Getting that vaccine to the whole globe, while maintaining a robust integrity of temperature is an equal challenge by itself. The Hope Consortium will provide that solution on the highest level of quality, “ he added.
