UAE encourages frontline doctors to apply for golden visas for their exceptional contribution to fight Covid-19

The United Arab Emirates is making sure to reward the frontline doctors after their exceptional efforts to treat Covid-19 patients and curb the coronavirus cases to the best of their ability.

To mark their efforts, frontline doctors are being urged to apply for golden visas. Golden Visas are special visas granted by the UAE government to offer a long term residency scheme. The scheme was launched by the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid to acknowledge the experts of various fields.

With the golden visa, doctors along with their families will be granted a 10-year residency, which will essentially allow them to  establish themselves in the country and look for a more secure future in the coming years. Not only this, but through this UAE government is also looking to expand its health sector.

The UAE is making efforts to amplify the healthcare facilities and provide the best facilities possible to its people. The doctors who have registered themselves with the health regulatory bodies, they can apply for golden visas till September by using website smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

Those who are practicing in Dubai can apply for the 10-year visa extension on smart.gdrfad.gov.ae. Once the frontline workers have applied for the visas, they will be approved after consideration and review of the related government department. To make things easy, seven centres will also be set up. These facilities will be affiliated with the Federal Authority to review the identity and citizenship.

After the healthcare sector successfully tackled the coronavirus pandemic last year, the UAE government had granted golden visas to over 200 doctors in Dubai and now the country is aiming to provide residency benefits to other medical experts as well. At the start of this month, one of the Pakistani doctors expressed her happiness on receiving the golden visa.

“I was among the first batch of doctors who started working during the pandemic,” Javairia Hassan said. She has seen the most troubled times of the pandemic and having witnessed all of that, she was among the first doctors to be rewarded with this visa scheme.

Other than these doctors, pupils securing high marks in their schools will also be granted 10-year residency visas.
